Current Statement
My intention is to provide a sensory experience for the viewer, to stimulate the senses and offer the overwhelmed brain of modernity, a moment of solace, to fully embody the state of conscious presence, which ultimately severs the link to the painful past and trepidation of the future. I create works that stimulate the senses and generate the sensory experience of after-images and auras, an ocular reaction to the vibrancy of color, form and atmosphere created by light, producing a healthy visual exercise to cultivate a state of mindfulness and spaciousness from within.
Humans are naturally drawn to their own illusions, the perceived stories of what happened to them, the circumstances that didn’t transpire as expected, the traumas one cannot recover from, and so on. Becoming stuck in compulsory and repetitive mental concepts can lead to the dissolution of self and a deepening of unconsciousness. To dissolve such attachments to negative illusory thought, one must first practice presence and become aware of the noise produced by the incessant stream of thinking, and replace such illusions with new ones.
My work offers colorful illusions which facilitates a dose of escapism from any unfavorable realities that often accompany us. Cultivating such sensations offers a gentle exit from the mental noise produced by the incessant stream of thinking, and offers a portal to connect with the present moment.
