Current Statement
My work is designed to offer a sensory refuge for the viewer, a space where the overwhelmed brain of modernity can soften into stillness. The after-images and auras generated from the color progressions and mark making create subtle atmospheres that cultivate mindfulness and a sense of internal spaciousness, offering a visual exercise and allowing the viewer to enter a state of conscious presence.
As humans, we are often tethered to and defined by our illusions, namely the narratives of perceivable failures, what wounded us beyond repair, or severed us from our own humanity. Such stories, left unexamined, risk becoming mental loops that erode presence within and deepen unconsciousness, which ultimately disconnects the individual from the deeper world around them.
By constructing vibrant, meditative fields of visual illusions, I invite viewers into a temporary sanctuary; not to deny reality, but to momentarily dissolve our mental illusions through works that disrupt the noise of compulsory thought and doing, and create space for the flowering of consciousness to emerge.
